Gary Fishbein

Gary brengt een enorme ervaring mee naar Ascender. Als “director of expatriate services” heeft hij een hoge mate van kennis van de psychologische dynamiek van Expatriates en richt hij zijn aandacht dan ook op ondersteuning- en begeleidingsprogramma’s voor deze bijzondere doelgroep.

Dit zowel als professional, alsook vanwege het feit dat hijzelf een naar Den Haag geëmigreerde New Yorker is. Daarnaast heft Gary een hoge mate van expertise met Employee Assistance Programme’s (EAP), een voor Ascender belangrijk ondrwerp.

Zijn eerste ervaring met EAP deed Gary op in het St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. Vervolgens werd hij de EAP-psycholoog binnen een programma op Wall Street, welke psychologische ondersteuning bood aan medewerkers voor financiële instellingen.

Mede als gevolg van de aanslag op het World Trade Center heeft Gary zeer intensief gewerkt met trauma slachtoffers. Gary werkte vervolgens als Clinical Coordinator in het EAP van de American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO).

Daanaast had hij een eigen psychotherapie praktijk in New York. Gary verhuisde in 2007 naar Den Haag. Hier verbon hij zich aan Phyleon, in het bijzonder aan het Expat Excellence Program, welke expatriates en hun families psychologisch ondersteunt voor wat betreft het wonen en werken in Nederland. Gary heeft hiernaast ook een eigen psychotherapie praktijk in Den Haag, waarin hij ook met de expat gemeenschap uit en Haag werkt.

Na de voltooiing van zijn studie aan de New York University is Gary geregistreerd als Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Gary heeft vervolgens zijn psycho-analytische opleiding gevolgd aan het Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy in New York.

Via verdere training and supervisie van de Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA), werd hij een Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) en is de enige houder van deze zeer hoog gewaardeerde registratie in Nederland.

Gary brings many years of expertise to Ascender. As director of expatriate services, he has considerable knowledge of the constellation of issues faced by expatriate employees, not only from a professional point-of-reference, but also as a New Yorker who has relocated to The Hague.

Gary also has a thorough understanding of the mechanisms of employee assistance programs, a field so important to Ascender.

In the field of employee assistance, Gary received his initial experience at the program connected with St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. Subsequently, he became a clinician for a Wall Street employee assistance program, providing mental health services to employees of financial services corporations. There, in the months following the World Trade Center disaster, Gary worked extensively with trauma victims of the disaster.

Following his work on Wall Street, he became the clinical coordinator of an employee assistance program affiliated with the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), providing services to members of all New York City AFL-CIO associated trade unions. During this period, he also established a psychotherapy practice in New York.

Shortly after relocating to The Netherlands in 2007, Gary joined Phyleon’s Expat Excellence Program, assisting expatriate employees and their families with adjustment to living and working abroad. He has also established a counseling practice, working with the expatriate community in The Hague.

Having completing his graduate studies at New York University, Gary was credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker by New York State. Following this, he received his psychoanalytic training at the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy, in New York.

After further training and supervision through the Employ ee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA), he received a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) credential, and is the only holder of this credential in The Netherlands.
